Well, seeing as governments all over the world are suffering from a lack of cash, lets ask this. Assuming your nation was: Relatively safe from invasion. Had suffered no recent disaster. Democratic (You want to avoid majorly upsetting the public). Working fairly well. (No major issues in any sectors, although naturally they ALL request more funding.) Which of these government departments would you be most likely to cut funding from to save money? You don't have much debt, so you need only cut from a single department. However the cut will likely have a moderately sized negative impact on that department, one that it will take decades to recover from.
