How many times have you seen Avatar? 2 Years, 4 Months ago Karma: 0
This seems to be the type of film that one cannot view it just once. I've read in the threads and people have said they've seen it numerous times. Vote on the numbers of time you've seen it and tell us what new things you've noticed about the film each time you saw it.

As for myself, I was able to follow the story a little bit better and focus more on the details. The first time I was just enjoying the effects and 3D.

This movie has touched me in a different way than say Star Wars or other film that develope a cult type following. I've seen it three times, and I'm going again tomorrow, this time will be the first my wife has seen it. There's something about the Na'vi that I just love to watch. They must have stuff that we Sky People do not..the connection with their world, animals and each other that I wish was possible to obtain. So, when is the Avatar Fan Club Convention!! Eywa Ngahu

I think you really have to see it twice, in IMAX to really get it.

First time, to see the characters and the story and the action line

Second time, to look past the characters and dialog, to see the colors, the creatures, to listen to the sounds, not the dialog. Look from side to side and up and down to catch all the details, like tiny insects, flowers and plants doing stuff, colors changing with the light.

I actually went a third time, just to share it with my sister. Three times may be too much, I'm a little overloaded. Maybe in a month or so.

Since AVATAR released on 18 December, up to date (31/12)... I watched it 6 times. 5 times in 2D version and 1 time in 3D version. AVATAR really drives me crazy... Watching AVATAR is not simply watching a story, but a journey of emotion and spiritual. I can feel that I am going to watch it again and again until I get tired or bored ... but 1 thing I realized, the more I watch it, the more it affected me... ... Think, I need to go to Pandora and meet Na'Vi to cure me by laying me next to EyWa...

I just watched it again today bringing my count to 2.
I agree with most here, the first time i watched the movie it was simple breathtaking.
The second time, while not as good as the first offered a deeper understanding of things.

5 as of Dec. 31st, probably again in a week or two.
First two times were in standard 2D (I was skeptical of the "3D Experience!" being touted, and because wearing one set of glasses already makes me less keen to put a second on).
Finally caved and decided to give 3D a try, and so very glad I did. I'm not sure what I expected, but the immersiveness of it was both surprising and pleasing - not a gimmicky excuse to toss things in the audience's lap. This is most definitely the way 3D movies ought to be treated, and I hope film makers are taking notes.
My one regret is lack of an IMAX within driving distance.

As a funny side-note, every time I see it I leave with a different scene on loop in my head. Before yesterday, I had Neytiri's whole explanation of Taruk Makto stuck in my head. Before that it was Tsu'tey's "Makto-go!" on Jake's first night in the forest. Now it's the "...And, you may choose a woman" exchange.
I don't think my brain will be happy until it's memorized all 180 minutes of this thing. *sob*

The scene that's etched in my mind is when Jake came down with Toruk to meditating/praying Na'vis. It was almost like their prayers came true and a prophet come down from the heavens to save them. And Toruk standing there tall, mighty and intimidating after Jake stepped off it.I can't help but replay that scene. Maybe I've always fantasized of being that hero figure and that scene epitomizes it.

I have seen it 3 times and a few other times in ways which we can not discuss.

The sound track is also VERY GOOD the last time I got a sound track that I could just listen to the whole thing in bliss was last of the mohicans (awesome score)

The theme song is great as well. Never heard of Leona Lewis until this her voice is great. I wish there were more vocal songs though! I am really hoping someone does and does so well a "Music Inspired by Avatar" CD.

I was a little miffed that the song they were singing at the tree was not on the disc at least not an entire song.

The only thing that really sucks about Avatar for me personally is the 3D from what I have been reading your only really seeing half the movie in 2D but 2D is the only way I can physically see the movie.

I am one who was hoping 3D movies would be a fad for with only 1 functioning eye I can never enjoy Avatar in 3D (just looks 2D to me)

2D or 3D avatar was a true visual treat and I anticipate I will see it at least one more time in the theatre. I might even go see the imax while I can not see the 3D I would really love to see a 50ft tall Na'vi or however tall the screen is.

Twice - first in 3D then in 2D.

I have to say that for my second 3D experience (since going overseas to Universal Studios) I was amazed. I didn't think it would be that impressive. Before going to watch in 3D, I had low expectations of both 3D and the glasses but both were great. The glasses because the thick frame actually improved the experience - by blocking out people near me and the rest of the cinema. Totally immersing myself in Pandora.

The second viewing wasn't as good as you'd expect. It was still good to watch it again though 8-) )

I've seen this eleven times in 3D and once in 2D. You can believe I'll be going again for sure! I just figure this will be the only time I'll be able to see it on big screen unless one day I create my own movie theatre. So I intend to go every week until it leaves. Best money I've ever spent

3D televisions are arriving in 2010 so I would expect Avatar to be amongst the first, since it was made for 3D in a sense. I'm waiting for the DVD, or Blu-ray if I choose to upgrade.

I personally HATE 3D because the more they focus on 3D the less I am able to enjoy it (thankfully while Avatar was designed to be 3D lack of 3D does NOT hurt the movie at all)

I simply can not and probably never will be able to see multi image 3D anything. multi image 3D (showing a different image to each eye) requires that you HAVE two working eyes. I don't. so all 3D movies are 2D movies to me.

Re: How many times have you seen Avatar? 2 Years, 4 Months ago Karma: 0
So far, 1.5 times - once in 3D and partially in 2D (my uncle pirated it, and when I went to his house he had it on. I was busy doing other things, but popped in every once in a while to see what it was about). But I'm planning on going to the IMAX showing this weekend, hopefully it's not to late to get tickets. I'll hopefully bring a friend along who hasn't seen it yet - it's gonna blow his mind.

Then I'll probably see it again sometime in February. I've got a class trip to DC in the middle of the month, and I'll probably go and see it when we get some free time. I'm sure it will still be easy to find a theater playing it then - Titanic was in theaters for 40-something weeks.

I'm trying to find a copy online so I can watch it at home. How do you guys have the time/money to see it so many times?
