This thread has been cleared by the mods Kievanie and Atokirina mi taw.
All the criticism I've heard of this movie has been very positive so I'd recommend anyone giving it a try.

Depends on how those papers usually write about movies. My favourite news-site (they belong to a weekly magazine) for example: They're great for news, but I can be sure - if they pan a movie there the ticket usually is more than worth its price
After all they even panned Avatar
@Elyris: Had to google her, obviously a young actress and singer - never heard of her before.

I had given a little bit of a review in the "Little Things That Annoy You" thread. Here's a copy of my review:
I think I'm going to give up on 3D movies at the theater and not bother paying extra to see a movie in 3D any more UNLESS it's from James Cameron or he was consulted or his camera system was used. I've paid extra for too many movies where you don't even notice anything 3D for most of the movie. I most recently took my kids to see Journey 2: The Mysterious Island in 3D. Ok, I wasn't expecting much from this film to begin with, but there are many scenes in the movie that reminded me of Avatar, such as lush jungle scenes, and a chase where the characters are riding giant bees and being chased by a giant bee-eating bird (similar to the ikran/toruk chase). Both scenes, unlike Avatar's amazing sense of depth, looked completely flat. There are a few gimmicky "throw things at the audience" shots (which never work), and lots of wide panoramic vistas that, if done by JC, would have had incredible depth, but everything in the movie (along with the plot) falls flat. No more being suckered into 3D for me unless it's from JC. I can't wait to see Titanic in IMAX 3D.
And some more comments in a spoiler, although I'm not really giving anything away:
Warning: Spoiler!I call it a "coincidence" movie. Oh what a coincidence that the grandson heard his grandfather's coded message and decoded it. What a coincidence that they find the Mysterious Island (that no one (other than the grandfather and Jules Verne) has EVER found) in 10 minutes. What a coincidence that they all wake up safe and sound on the beach of the island totally unharmed even though their helicopter is in 1000's of tiny pieces on the beach all around them. What a coincidence that the island is sinking today, the day they happen to land on it. I think that anyone who is a fan of Jules Verne is going to hate this movie. It's full of inaccuracies too. On the island, everything big is small, and everything small is big. Elephants are the size of bulldogs, bees are the size of elephants, but for some reason the fireflies are still regular size.

Ok I went and watched it and for those unfamiliar witth the current Vernian franchise that started with Journey to the center of the Earth the plot centers around Vernians a small group of people that believes that the stories Jules Verne wrote are true and not pieces of fiction I have to clear that out since most rag reviewers overlook this completely.
Anyone that goes to this movie expecting great depth will not find it anymore that they would have found it on it's predecessor. What it does have is plenty of action and adventure.
Now for the spoilers
Warning: Spoiler! There is a scene with a pretty realistic giant lizard.
As some rag reviewers have spoiled over, the movie does feature giant bees and other giant insects and they do indeed have bee riding scene that is more a combination of cliches from various films including Avatar, Honey I shrunk the kids mixed with a bit of Pearl Harbor's flying sequence.
Not great but not bad for what the movie is anyway
Now the franchise does have problems in regard that every place they find is always in the process of being obliterated and the explanation always is that every number of odd years the "cataclism" happens. Problem with that is if either a natural terrarium at the "center" of the Earth or an island get demolished cyclically then how would any lifeforms other than bacteria survive and thrive on such locales.
But as I said.the film and franchise are what they are.
They are fun to watch movies but if it's depth you are looking for I recommend go elsewhere
Hope that helps...
