I am 15 and I live in a dark hole called Portugal. Not denying my nationality, but the economy here is not good now, so I'm planning not escaping as soon as I finish High School.
I saw Avatar for the first time I think on the 2nd of January. I loved it. Almost cried for Jake when Neytiri yelled at him. When I got home, I was already on IMDb.com reading Trivia and Goofs and searching all over the internet for facts about that amazing thing called Avatar. I saw it again, some weeks after that. And then again some time after that, and then again. The last time was in a actually small screen, those cinema rooms that are mostly empty because the film has been release so many weeks before that and no one wants to see it now... But it was worth it any way. The time I waited for the DVD was agonizing and I refused to download the film from Internet because that isn't fair when it is such a great movie. So I waited and got the DVD. I didn't see it 80 times nor put it repeating on the DVD player. That is not why I bought the DVD. I wanted to see the details, memorize the lines unconsciously. I wanted to really understand the essence of the whole film. I saw it 3 times in 2 weeks (note that I have school...)
At that time, I had already printed lots of photos and put them on all the walls of my room. I would have put it all over the house, but my mother thinks I "love Avatar too much" and so I don't even talk about it. After that, I was already planning on ordering the Survival Guide online, but I forgot it and when I noticed, the book was already translated and I figured it would be easier, although I'm great with English and it wouldn't be a problem. I had a guy friend that liked Avatar a little more than most people, but he was mostly into Harry Potter, so he wasn't that much helpful... I tried to find Avatards by introducing something like "So, did you like the ending of Avatar?" or "Weren't those helicopters in Avatar amazing?" in the middle of conversations. But no, it didn't work. And so my life went on.
Then I went to England, and what did I find? AVATAR POSTERS. I bought one, for 5 pounds, on the first day of my trip. I thought it would be better if I waited for the next week because we were going to come back there, but when we did come back, they were out of stock. So I was pretty happy with my sixth sense, don't you think? I read half the book in England, and when I came back I finished it. It was amazing getting to know all the names of the amazing plants and animals. And also the lifestyle of the Na'vi. And when I finished reading the book, I just stopped for a second and thought "How the heck did someone have these ideas all in one head?" I know the book wasn't written by Cameron and people helped creating the whole Pandora invironment, but he had the seed. That seed of Pandora. And that was just amazing for me. At the time, Jake Sully joined my very short list of idols.
